Hancock Chimney Service Company was created by Ken Hancock in 1980 when the price of gas and oil reached a record high. Ken anticipated that the number of people burning wood for heat would increase, and knew those chimneys would need maintenance for safe use.
Ken and his wife, Deanna, started sweeping chimneys after work and on weekends when they first started. They exhibited at home shows and county fairs, with Ken in his top hat, answering many questions and educating the public about wood heat safety. They joined the National Chimney Sweep Guild and attended conventions and seminars to further their education in the wood heat industry. Soon business grew and they quit their day jobs, hired assistants and started sweeping chimneys full time.
Since those early days, Hancock Chimney Service has added many services including camera scan inspections, masonry repair, installing stainless steel flue caps, waterproofing the bricks, installing flue liners and installing woodstoves. We train and certify all of our employees at the Chimney Safety Institute of America so our clients get the most knowledgeable chimney service.
Ken now overseas 3 crews of experienced, certified technicians up on the roofs, incuding a second and third generation of nephew, Jason and son, Forrest. Deanna manages the office with her daughter, Tarah, answering the phones and scheduling the appointments. We have kept our business small and family oriented to ensure the quality, honesty and professionalism we have always prided ourselves upon. Call us today to schedule an appointment for your chimney inspection.
